Superior Bleeding Control for Community Responders | Online instruction and Instructor-led Skills Workshop
 
 
Course Description

This online course trains bystanders in the community how to administer care to others with confidence in a life-threatening situation, where a victim, or victims, may lose their life due to a serious injury that results in bleeding. Instruction will include use of commercial bleeding control tools as well as information on how to create improvised bandages and tourniquets from everyday items. Completion of this course will prepare you to provide life-saving measures while waiting for Emergency Service Providers to arrive on scene and improve victim survival by ensuring smooth transition of care.
 
Learning Objectives
  • Identify steps to maintain personal safety
  • Describe the best techniques for the management of hemorrhaging wounds
  • Understand wound compression and packing using hemostatic agents
  • Compare correct application of elastic bands, both for wound compression and as a tourniquet
  • Review correct application and when to use a windlass tourniquet
  • Examine how to create and apply improvised bandages
  • Summarize how community responders and emergency service providers should work together to treat bleeding victims

Once you complete the online instruction, email or bring a copy of your online instruction certificate to your scheduled STOP THE BLEED®~ Superior Bleeding Control for Community Responders instructor- led Skills Workshop. When you complete your skills workshop, you will receive your completion certificate.

 Course Description
 
Emergency Service Providers are skilled in administering life-saving interventions in the case of an accident or mass casualty event. This course serves two important needs:

First, it focuses on the skills Healthcare Service Providers need to refine their advanced bleeding control techniques in a variety of emergent situations. 

Secondly, it will help Healthcare Service Providers understand the basic skills a community member may apply prior to their arrival and explores methods to smooth the transition of care from an assisting community member to trained emergency response professionals.

The BLS for Healthcare Providers Renewal Course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.

For healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, and respiratory therapists who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course. This would also include nursing students, EMT students.

• Stopping bleeding that can be seen

The Heartsaver CPR Course teaches CPR and relief of choking in adults and children and infant CPR, and use of barrier devices for all ages.

ACLS certification course is approved for 12 CME contact hours

Class Description: The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED class will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants. This class meets OSHA/workplace requirements and meets the CPR requirement for the California Teaching Credential.

Class Format: This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. Online course access will be in the confirmation email after registration is complete.

Duration: Up to 3 hrs 30 min online + Up to 2 hrs 15 min class session

Certification: 2 year American Red Cross digital certificate. You will receive your completion certificate same day or next day.
